2018 Spring Workshop Highlights

The 2018 Water Supply Association 37th Annual Spring Workshop was recently held on April 12th and 13th, 2018 at the Okanagan Golf Club. The workshop was very well attended on both days by elected officials, administrators, managers and operators from around the region.  There were 11 presentations given over the two days which focused on industry related topics.  Kevin Huey introduced Lynda Wachter, the new Administrator of the WSA, and on behalf of the directors, presented Cheryl Halla, who served as the WSA Administrator for 18 years, with a gift of appreciation of her dedicated service to the WSA.

Day One featured Kellie Garcia, OBWB speaking on Water Sustainability and Drought Triggers; Shaun Reimer from MOE talking on the 2018 Snow Pack Levels and the 2017 regional flooding; Preston Creelman from Royal Pipe Products gave an informative talk on the correct way to install pipe; Mike Epp from MOE gave an update on the Groundwater Licencing Process; Rob Rounds from Rounds Consulting talked on the Duties and Responsibilities of Elected Officials.  The annual WSA Scholarship Award in the amount $1,500 was presented to Jennifer Forscutt, a deserving student from the Water Engineering Technology Program at Okanagan College. Congratulations to Jennifer.. well deserved. 

Day Two had a series of interesting presentations, many are featured in the gallery below.  The next event being planned is the Annual General Meeting, being held this October at the Prestige Harbourfront Resort in Nelson, BC.  Thank you for all those who attended our Spring Workshop.
